Jesus’ Will for UsBy: Joseph H. Murray(Named by Lyn Hammonds) 1. Matt. 4:19 – Fish for Men “I will make you fishers of men.” 2. Matt. 6:14 – Forgive Sin (He wills that we forgive sin.) 3. Matt. 16:24 – Deny Himself Take up his cross and follow Him. This is a Gethsemane experience. Not my will, but thine be done! 4. Mark 1:41 – Heal the Sick, and Cleanse the Lepers “And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth His hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.” 5. Matt. 26:18 – Keep the Passover “And He (Jesus) said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.” If Jesus were here today, He would still be desirous to keep the Passover with His disciples, but He would only drink and eat with those who are in His kingdom (AMEN – in Spirit). For, He said this Himself in these words when He was speaking of the wine being a token of His blood, which was yet to be shed, and of the bread being a token of His body yet to be broken: “Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” 6. Matt. 26:31–32 – He wills that we be resurrected from the dead – even as He was resurrected. “Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. But after I am risen [from the dead] I will go before you into Galilee.” Jesus desires, or wills for us to live in His will until He comes for us, or if we die before He comes, He wills that we be raised at His coming for us. “For if the dead rise not,” Paul tells us, “then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1Cor. 15:16–22). You cannot keep the Passover outside of the Kingdom of God. |
