He Hath Given Us the Earnest of the Spirit

We who have received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, have received but a taste of the powers of the world to come. The earnest of the Spirit that we have received is a part of something far more glorious than our minds can conceive. Earnest, according to Mr. Webster, is a part given or done in advance as a pledge for the rest, or to bind a bargain. The surrender that we have made to God through our brokenhearted repentance has brought to us a taste and a hope that we can attain to, and obtain, the balance of our purchased possession through the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord.
There are so many being deceived into believing that they can claim these things because by faith they say it is written, but these things are received by predestination. And the only proof that we are predestined is what we do about repenting of our sins and having them washed away in the Blood of the Lamb of God and receiving the earnest of the Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost.
